The individuals currently working on the Team assembled to address economic development reform related to Small Business Development needs in Colorado includes:

PROBLEM
Economic development activities within Colorado have a tendency to focus upon large businesses without regard for the fact that small businesses historically generate the most new jobs.
ACTION
Part 1 – Establish a separate economic development office for the State of Colorado that focuses solely on small businesses
It is recommended that the State of Colorado create a separate office of economic development that is limited to programs involving small businesses. This Economic Development Initiative would be advanced by legislation providing for the establishment of a new Office of Small Business Economic Development.
Part 2 – Require membership on the Colorado Economic Development Commission fairly represent small businesses.
It is recommended that the State of Colorado change the membership of the Economic Development Commission to provide for fair representation of small businesses. This Economic Development Initiative would be advanced by legislation setting membership on the Commission proportional to the number of employees of Colorado small businesses relative to total employees within the State.
